Review of Together by Factory Irregular at Camden People’s Theatre
...a shallow self-obsessed non-binary speaker in a fabulous onesie whose major crises was wondering what colour lipstick to wear on their date later.
...All in all, Together was definitely a unique production. My feelings about it changed continually over the roughly one-hour running time. There was something that felt not quite right about being able to see the broadcasters as people in their personal space, as well as faces on a screen. It surprised me – though I’m not too sure why – how often the level of comments revolved around sex. Maybe it was my own prejudices but with the shallow person it was sort of understandable...

Together
...Smaradga  was particularly excellent at engaging spectators. Whilst getting ready for a night out, Smaragda did her best to acknowledge all comments and questions that were thrown her way. A habit which all of the presenters would do well to adopt. Ensuring she read all comments before answering them made the conversation inclusive. Smaragda was not afraid to be driven by what the audience requested. Fun, bold and bright, her broadcast was thoroughly entertaining.

Review: Together at the Colab Factory
Underground adventures: Factory Irregular’s devised immersive show doesn’t offer its audience a hand to hold.

...Dressed in a Miley Cyrus onesie, a pink flat cap and matching glasses, Smaragda is the second online personality. He wears a blonde wig, and rarely stops talking. Dialogue pours forth profusely, his temperament and language similar to that of well-known celebrities made famous by reality television. As well as text-based messages, audience members can also send a heart or ‘Hankey’, the infamous poop emoji. These hieroglyphs draw an enthusiastic response from Smaragda...

THE FUTILITY OF MEDIATED COMMUNICATION: “TOGETHER” AT CAMDEN UNDERGROUND

...How did I feel as an audience member? To be honest, I was quite bored most of the time, feeling lonely, and empty as well, partly because there was a lack of variety in the pacing, and things looked trivial after the beginning. But in a sense, the monotony created an atmosphere in which anything slightly different from predicted could become special. And when you realize the overall power dynamics of the piece, things become even more exciting–you are hidden behind your phone, so you are empowered to experiment with anything; insulting a stranger or confessing your secrets bears little consequence. On the livestreamers’ side, the large groups of viewers, albeit unseen and unknown, fulfill their need for attention. These effects are not uncommon in the real online world.

Peosphoros Reviews

by Brett Stevens on April 19, 2018

[…] The only way to fight this thoroughly in my opinion is being an Edgetivist. Not trying to play into their Nazi strawman by trying to establish how you are not a nazi, but sieg heiling to provoke them fur ther. Not trying to prove you are not a paedophile because you watched child porn but covering hard candy cock by GG Allin. Not saying these edgy things because you “believe” in them; saying them because you want to sublimate your energy into art. To experiment in a safe environment which is art. Discuss realities before they become actualities.
As metal wakes from its long stupor, and finds itself in territory occupied by warring ideologues who see all art as a means to the end of their ideology, it is time for metal to fight for itself and see itself as an end worth asserting. Politics is the means to that end, so it can be subverted without loss to metal.
Peosphoros has a long uphill road ahead of them. Censorship on American social media is rife and will only get worse as ideological governments in the EU and US demand it filter out facts and opinions which go against the narrative that our liberal democracy desires.
However, with provocation — calling to mind not just G.G. Allin but Impaled Nazarene and Absurd — metal can fight back by inducing the ideologues to reveal their true nature, at which point their censorship “in our best interests” rings hollow. […]

Now, if they really are giving funds created from the album to Syrian refugees and to free Palestine there is at least that positive aspect to it. But to me that isn’t enough, not even close. There isn’t anything to like about this album, it is just pointless and ridiculous – I am not impressed. I find that I’d much rather throw this album in the toilet and flush it down than putting it in my record shelf.

Σε στιχουργικό επίπεδο, ο δίσκος αποτελεί μία αντανάκλαση κοινωνιολογικών θεμάτων της σημερινής εποχής, κάτι το οποίο φαίνεται και από τους τίτλους των κομματιών. Καθώς το κίνημα της ΛΟΑΤΚΙ κοινότητας αποκτά καθημερινά νέες διαστάσεις, και καθώς ζητήματα φεμινισμού και σεξισμού δεν έχουν φύγει ποτέ από το προσκήνιο, οι Peosphoros δίνουν μία ακόμα αφορμή να εμπλακεί κανείς σε μία συζήτηση που αφορά δικαιώματα μειοψηφίας, ζητήματα που άπτονται της queer φεμινιστικής θεωρίας, της υπεροχής της λευκής φυλής (“We hail the aryan race”), της σεξουαλικής επίθεσης (“Child porn must be legalized”), του φονταμενταλισμού (“Isis got everything right / White cultural genocide”).
Υπό το πρίσμα αυτό, αποτελεί μάλλον μία προσπάθεια να καταδειχθεί η ματαιότητα, ή ακόμα και η γελοιότητα, της ενασχόλησης με τα ζητήματα αυτά το 2018: “Black metal is part of thewhite genocide / Can‘t you see? / Why is it called black? / Corpsepaint? What is corpse paint for? / To hide the color of the skin”.
Σε κάθε περίπτωση, το “Pink Metal” αποτελεί έναν από τους δίσκους της χρονιάς,  που είτε θα διασκεδάσει, είτε θα προβληματίσει.  […]

[…] I know I’m being trolled.  I don’t know by who though.  Is this social commentary on metal journalists not researching bands and then crowing about them online?  Is this an alt-right group trolling the left?  Is this the left trolling the right?  Is this a general troll of everyone?  Just inflame a bunch of sentiment and fan the flames of butthurt?

Peosphoros - Pink Metal
Peosphoros heralds the Trans-Ocalypse. What a spectacle. On a war footing with Black Metal, the ensemble celebrates a provocative-offensive punch in the masculine genitals that it hurts.
Smaragda Kara, Leyla Braun and Reimu spoiled classic, extreme brutal death metal and cabaret into an inaudible trash that demands a lot from the audience: patience and confidence. To wrap up topics like modern genocide of minorities, sexual liberation, power structures, sex worker artists, a young girl dreams of her dad's cock, only to find out that he is gay and fucks his personal trainer ("Britney Therapy"). Peosphoros' provocation lead to unspeakable sound structures, which are characterized by theatrical vocal excesses and to celebrate the saw-muddy sound in epic length. "Pink Metal" sounds like a persiflage, like an annoying mixture of whining and screaming, which is permeated by loud distorted riffs. Ultimately, the wild mix of trans-glam and glitter, doom, thrash and metal produces a symphony of madness and horror, a stylized and crazy approach to arranging an ode to contradiction. Provocation, directness and paradoxical interventions often lead to surprising changes. And who knows what comes out in the end when you get fucked by Pink Metal in the ass. The effusions definitely lack decorum and morality. when you get fucked by Pink Metal in the ass. The effusions definitely lack decorum and morality. when you get fucked by Pink Metal in the ass. The effusions definitely lack decorum and morality.
